Oakside care home is a grade two listed building situated in the village of Northiam in East Sussex, and has been established for nearly 30 years. Sister home to Peasmarsh Place, in nearby Peasmarsh, Oakside overlooks the village green, which has shaded seating and in fine weather provides the opportunity to sit and enjoy the peaceful rural setting.
The Village is quiet and tranquil with a pleasant tea shop, which our residents enjoy visiting regularly for home made tea and cakes. Local to Northiam is Rye with its picturesque harbour, antique shops and art galleries. Bodiam is also very accessible and offers the opportunity to visit its historic moated castle and grounds.
Oakside Care Home is small, with a very warm, peaceful and friendly atmosphere which helps new residents to settle in quickly and begin to feel at home. We encourage all residents to personalise their rooms with their own furniture and belongings to create their own individual space which reflects their personality.The accommodation at Oakside provides either single rooms for an individual occupant, or twin rooms which offer shared occupancy to couples. The majority of rooms enjoy en-suite facilities. Rooms without these services are provided with hand basins and are adjacent to main bathrooms.
All rooms are equipped with telephone points to enable the use of personal telephones. Respite and day services are also provided. The services delivered at Oakside focus on the care and support needs of the individual person and how they wish these to be delivered.
The individuality, dignity, choices and rights of the people who live at Oakside are of paramount importance and determine how care and support is delivered to each person.
We encourage new residents, when they choose to make Oakside their home, to maintain their established links with community and continue with their current hobbies and interests. We also provide the opportunity to be introduced to new activities and interests through the homes entertainment programme.
A Chiropodist and hairdresser visit the home on a regular basis. The local doctors surgery provides an excellent services from the medical staff. We can also arrange access to a varied choice of ‘holistic therapies’ including massage and aromatherapy.
Oakside provides an interesting and varied menu the content of which is decided by the residents and updated on a monthly basis. We cater to all dietary requirements and personal choices on an individual basis should this be different to the daily menu choices with light snacks being provided as required. Beverages are provided throughout the day and evening with alcoholic and soft drinks available at lunch and supper.
All meals are served in the dining room overlooking the village green, however resident can if they so wish take meals in the privacy of their own rooms. We are very happy to welcome family members and friends to join us at meal times.
St Mary’s Church of England Church is situated adjacent to Oakside for those who wish to attend church to worship, a local priest visits the Home on a regular basis to hold Holy Communion for those of the Catholic faith. Arrangements can be made for worship to meet individual religious requirements.
Currently, fees for residency at Oakside range from £481 to £673 per week.
